Testing

Over the last few years, our relationship to our bodies and biosurveillance has shifted significantly. We have come to relate to the bodies of others as ongoing threats. In an effort to feel safe, we have given unprecedented access to our own bio data. DNA sequencing companies collect genetic data for research and profit, while offering “insights” into our identities and health. These insights impose values and a framework around the relationship between biological material and identity, quantifying traits and marking some as desirable. Intervening in the public via U-Bahn advertisements, Testing questions how we assess and acclimate to risk on an intimate level.
