I’ve always dreamt of making a computer program that I could run that would instantly make a bunch of IRL friends for me. I love the anticipatory feeling of accepting a new friend request, knowing I’m about to spend time looking through all their posts and photos back to 2004. This performance is perhaps an attempt at one version of this. I ran through my program manually, spending five minutes with each person, trying to get to know each. If we were strangers or just acquaintances, I imagined what it might be like if we were friends. I did this for 1000+ people, performing for 10 hours a day nonstop for a week. The performance was broadcast live on the internet for anyone to watch.
