Appreciate You


Appreciate You is an NFT-based performance for one person at a time, in which we meet over Zoom, and I appreciate you. There were 100 five minute sessions, taking place over December 31, 2021.









To reserve a performance session time, collectors obtained the corresponding token on objkt.com. Now that the performance has taken place, if a collector transfers their token, they agree to spend five minutes appreciating the new owner. In this way, the work functions as a distributed performance.

The work intertwines a social contract and a smart contract, asking what “value” and “trust” mean to us in the age of NFTs.

Appreciate You is part of a series of pandemic works—Later Date, I heard TALKING IS DANGEROUS, What do you want me to say?, Sleepover, and Good Night—that deal with themes of isolation, breakdown,  disconnection, communication, presence, desire.
