SCRIPT

[Setting: bedroom, 6am. LAUREN wakes up.]

[Setting: abode, morning. LAUREN realizes that she wants to be very handy today, so she brings a Philips head screw driver, a pack of sticky notes, and a pen with her. She decides that if she finds a loose screw, she will tighten it, and then leave a note that reads "To whom it may concern: this screw was loose, so I tightened it. Thank you. -LM."

[She also takes a picture of it and posts it.]

[Realizing she doesn't have these things, she stops at a hardware store.]

LAUREN: [To a store employee.] Hi, I need your handiest Philips head screw driver.

EMPLOYEE: [Looks confused.]

LAUREN: I mean, I need whichever of your Philips head screw drivers you think might be the handiest for tightening the random loose screw.

[LAUREN purchases a screw driver and heads to school. She doesn't talk to anyone else for the rest of the morning.]

[Setting: afternoon. Inspired by a facebook message she received recently, LAUREN decides to try out one of the Conversation Pieces.]

[Setting: outdoors, LAUREN watches people closely making an extra effort to appreciate them, while also watching for any way to help out. If an opening comes, she tries to help by saying, "Could I help out with that?" without expecting anything in return at all.]

[Setting: abode, evening. LAUREN remembers when she tightened a screw earlier in the day, if she can't remember her action (possibly because it didn't happen), she visits http://www.freepatentsonline.com/3879598.html, and designs a better water-bed-futon, and posts it.]

[LAUREN decides that she would like to share the scripted life with others, and brainstorms a scripted social event she could host in the next week, as well as ways to make it work (I.e. when do people write the scripts?)

She is extremely excited by the idea, and she emails a few people she really wants to come in order to build momentum for the event and solicit feedback.]
