PHOTOGRAPHY 2007

Frustrated and overwhelmed while attempting to learn to work with the medium of photography, I decided to turn these feelings into inspiration.

This project explored the lonely world of overwhelming pressure. Documenting the progression of a student’s desk during late night studying, I tried to capture the feelings of frustration and helplessness that every MIT student experiences from time to time. Sited at the Brain and Cognitive Science Building, overlooking a busy plaza below, my project exposed an issue that is often ignored at an institution that produces so much success.
I like to dive in and model, sketch, and experiment my way to an end result. The very different process of darkroom photography frustrated me somewhat. However, I learned a lot about communicating a concept in 2D and I was pleased with the final project.
